Back at the Palace

More and more concerned about Hatshepsut, Senenmut paced back and forth on his balcony. To his surprise, in the distance, he beheld a chariot as it sped to the palace. Astonished, he rejoiced to see that the rescue plan had succeeded. He rushed from his quarters and ran outside to greet them.

“Praise and honor be to Amun-Ra for your safe return!” Senenmut, shouted with raised hands. He bowed and kissed Hatshepsut’s hands and helped her down from the chariot.

Hatshepsut turned to Thutmose the Third. "We have surely underestimated you. On this day, you have shown great courage.” She embraced the young prince and laughed. “You have grown into a mighty warrior! To repay your loyalty to me, I shall give you anything you ask. Ask of me, whatever you will.”

Overjoyed, Thutmose the Third did not hesitate to respond. “As the co-regent Pharaoh of Kemet, I ask only that you make me Warlord of the Supreme Forces until it is my time to rule." At last! I have recognition, he thought and grinned.

“Granted!” Hatshepsut, spotted Hekauton amongst the gathered servants. “Hekauton, complete the young pharaoh’s training that he may meet the requirements before he is crowned Warlord!”

Thutmose the Third spent the next ten years in training. He strengthened his mind and body night and day.

During his rise through the ranks of the military, Prince Thutmose proved himself incomparable. The years had prepared him for his destiny. Obsessed with transforming his body into an indestructible warlord, he ran through the harsh desert plains. He shadowboxed against an old cedar tree to harden the bones in his knuckles and feet, and to build up his tolerance to pain. Barefooted, he trained twice as much as he ate.

However, Egypt’s prince did not sleep well. Prone to night terrors, he tossed and turned inside his chambers. In his dreams, he would often relive the death of his parents. As a result, he feared that, the moment he rested, he would become an advantage for the enemy.

Hekauton watched over the prince with loyalty, and in faith to the prophecy of Amun-Ra.
